Rosie Downey has a background in international development and education, spanning academia, science, arts and civil society. Her current work focuses on the curation of spaces that are conducive to transformative learning or deep dialogue. This includes working with the Southern Africa Food Lab to convene multi-stakeholder dialogue on food security and shifting complex issues in the food system between academia, local, provincial and national government, the private sector and civil society. Rosie has facilitated immersive learning modules in India and Nepal for 5 years as part of a Masters in Sustainable Development at the Sustainability Institute and the University of Stellenbosch. She also designed a new nationally accredited undergraduate programmes in entrepreneurship and lead community programmes for women and youth on agriculture and gender-based violence prevention in informal settlements in South Africa. As the Curator of TEDxCapeTownWomen she also convenes conversations within civil society around topical issues faced by African women and women globally.
