Phakama Pyoos, a resident of Mfuleni, was selected last year to partake in the Siyakhona Project, a project that trains young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to be video journalists. Phakama now runs her own video production company, working for large corporate clients, but still aims to use community media to create change around critical social issues like xenophobia, corruption, HIV-Aids and homophobia.
