Kim Smith was about five years old when she became aware of airplanes flying over the Cape Flats where she was born to a creditor’s clerk and teacher in 1985. These airplanes became a symbol of hope and the audacity to dream. Kim spent many days with her grandparents visiting old aged homes, soup kitchens, hospitals and orphanages. Here she made up her mind that life was about helping other people. Then at 12 years she started going with her mother to work during the school holidays and her eye for business developed.
